"Foxy Knoxy"

     When hearing about the nightmare Amanda Knox went through many seem to forget about the young girl, Meredith Kercher who lost her life. Meredith Susanna Cara Kercher was born on December 28, 1985 in Southwark, London, England . She grew up in Coulsdon, South London. (imdb.com) Friends called the young girl by her nickname “Mez”. She attended Keston Primary School and Old Palace School before attending the University of Leeds in England to co major in European Politics and Italian.(croydonadvertiser.co.uk) The junior was part of the school’s ERASMUS student exchange program. She was sent to spend a year in Perugia, Italy at the University of Foreigners. There she was roomed up with Amanda Knox and several other girls in an apartment located near the school. (blogspot.com) On November 1, 2007 Meredith Kercher was raped and stabbed to death on her bedroom floor. Pathologists have been able to determine that she died between 20:30 and 23:00, or 8:30 and 11:00 pm. The next morning Kercher’s roommate Amanda Knox returned to their broken into apartment and called police. Police found Kercher’s body lying on a duvet covered in blood.(blogspot.com)

    The family of Meredith Kercher just like the Knox family had to spend eight years of their lives in Italy for the trial. Both families wanting one thing, justice. In the end the verdict drawn means that the Kercher family will most likely never know what happened to their daughter the night of her murder. Kercher’s mother responded to the verdict  "eight years of waiting, we now know we have waited in vain".(croydonadvertiser.co.uk) Kercher’s father went on to publish a book about the life and tragic loss of his daughter in 2013. The main reason of this book was because he believe most of the world’s attention was on the accused, Amanda Knox, and not on his daughter. In the book her father wrote "It is not only our family and her friends who have lost her. So has the world."(croydonadvertiser.co.uk)
